I am going down to Wyoming at the end of Sept. to hunt deer. I cant find out exactlly what I need to do to transport it back to Montana. I know theres a problem with CWD in Wyoming. Thanks

I know that when I travel to SD to get my meat processed, all I have to have to take it there is my carcass coupon. It should say in your deer regulations under meat guidelines. But it would never hurt to get an interstate game tag. That way you will have no problem at all for sure.
You will have to leave the backbone and skull with brains (not including a cleaned and trimmed piece to keep the antlers together) at the kill site to satisfy the CWD regs. If you transport your own deer with the carcass coupon (tag) you'll be good.
Always verify these things for yourself. Should be on the WY Game and Fish website.

I have a Nebraska deer tag and a Montana deer tag this year. I'll be hunting NE then going to Montana - and may have a deer with me when I arrive in Montana (hopefully)
Page 14 of the printed paper deer/elk/antelope regs has the info regarding transporting of these animals into Montana. Wycoyote pretty much summed it up.
Per the regs:
-it is unlawful to transport into Montana the whole carcass or certan carcass parts of white-tailed deer, mule deer, etc....from states with documented occurences of CWD in the wild populations...thoese states include Wyoming etc..
-Only the following carcass parts may be transported into Montana from these states (states with CWD):
-Meat that is cut and wrapped

Was trying to continue typing and accidentally hit reply:
- Meat that is cut and wrapped
-quarters and other portions of meat with no part of the spinal column or head attached
-Meat that has been boned out
-Hides with no heads attached
-clean (no meat or tissue attached) skull plates with the antlers attached
-antlers with no meat or tissue attached
*evidence of sex requirements must be met when transporting any of these parts back to montana*

Wyoming game and fish facebook page shows a great video of how to quick quarter your harvest. They take all the legal pieces of meat that is required by law. Its a pretty good video to watch. I have used the quick quarter method the last few years. I think its way quicker than the traditional field dressing method.
