i just bought a Moultrie cam, i have never owned a trail cam before. i tried setting mine up in the house and followed the instructions, and the cam showed it was working, but when i put sd card into my actual camera to look at pic it was blank. it says to use a sd card. i used a sdhc card, are they not the same? i am very non tech savy.

They're the same. HC is high capacity.
You might be saving pictures to a internal memory.
On my dads trail cam I had to switch it from internal to external memory (SD card).

I have also seen where you really need to push the card down into the slot and not just insert it.

thanks guys, I should be able to view it right from my camera right? take sd card out of trail camera and then put sd card into my camera? its making it seem like I need a special device in order to view anything. a buddy was using one last year and he had to use a usb connected to his laptop inorder to view his pics. that seems a little much if ya ask me.

Yes, you should be able to just put the memory card in your camera (that's how I check my pics).

Some things I've learned about trail cams:
1) Make sure there isn't brush, twigs, branches that will sway in the wind. They will trip the sensor and you'll end up with a thousand pics of nothing.
2) If there's cattle in the area, put it as high as you can, out of their reach. Our cows love to lick and mess with mine.

Make sure the card is not higher capacity than camera can accept, that will not work. I almost threw away one of my cameras but somehow I found that it will not work with higher capacity card, got smaller capacity card and it works fine.

I can't view any of my SD cards on my cameras, after they've been removed from my trail camera the format is different? I either use a view finder, or just swap cards out, and then view on my lap top.
My trail cams are all pretty old though, so maybe this is not longer the case?

thanks guys. fink, view finder is one of those portable things to vie pics with? just hook up usb to it? that might be a good option. just more mula but would be handy, swapping card out would be a cheaper idea. thanks for input. being able to view on spot would be beneficial if I don't see what I wanna see and can move cam without having to hike back in from base.

I know a few people that have purchased a cheap computer off of Ebay for just a few dollars just to throw into their pack to view photos with. I haven't looked at the price of chip viewers lately but a cheap computer may be less expensive. And now days with Ipads and everything else that people pack around with themselves who needs a extra viewer?

Yeah, its a little portable view finder, just pull your card, and insert into the viewer. I bought one for a buddy, they're okay... Kinda cumbersome, but get the job done, I guess...
I've thought about just buying an SD reader for my iphone, they're much cheaper than the card viewers, and would be much smaller/lighter to carry with you, since I've always got my phone on me anyways.

The SDHC cards should not be a problem. As mentioned by Fink it is a format issue. A card from a game camera can't play in all devices, such as a camera or a different game camera companies reader, however they should work in a lap top. I use SDHC in my Moultrie and I can play the card on my Nikon Camera, however my friends camera will not play the card.

I bought an SD reader for my Iphone last year. Works great, just the screen is so small that I wasn't able to see much detail especially out in the sun. I prefer a laptop or pad to view.

im going to order some sd cards from Moultrie anyway,
I run the SDHC Sandisk 8GB cards in my Moultrie 880's. Never have maxed out a card yet. I suspect Moultrie will want a pretty penny for their cards. You can find pretty good deals on cards through Amazon and a lot of times free shipping. I can pull cards and view on my cannon shurshot, but like mentioned not all cameras will read the card.
