I'd check on the winter kill from last winter, if your fav area was bad, may influence things. May be a drive, but I may look at SW, if the Cascades had a die off.

I am tossing around the idea of getting a general western deer tag. Living in Central oregon now after being absent for 7years means i must travel at least to the PCT to hunt. not a super big deal, just means more driving. if nothing else this is an excuse to get out with my son so that is a win for sure.

THoughts?
I've been doing that for 20 years. 90% of my deer and elk hunting happens on the west side

That crossed my mind, I didn't see any big bull sign in my area this year. Usually I see at least a big track, not this year.

yea the possible die off has me wondering as well. I did end up getting a General Deer, so we shall see. I have several area's picked out to check out. unfortunately i am looking at only day trips so distance is a bit limited. Might have one SW hunt mid month prior to general elk starts.
