The high road or the low road?

I'm going into an area the first and 2nd week of september. I can come in on the creek side at 8800ish feet and hunt up to 11,000 OR I can go up and around on the top of the ridge and hunt down, then climb up at the end of the day. Its 2 to 4 miles from the top to the bottom and I can get an ATV to either, its wilderness in the middle. The majority of the traffic is probably going in from the bottom. I am taking my camp and can spike out to stay with them as needed.

Which would you prefer to do or does it depend on the particular area? Its going to be a lot of up and down either way, but that's where the elk are.

Which way provides the best opportunity for you to cover more ground with your eyes..if you shoot something, there's nothing wrong with moving a vehicle downhill to make the pack out easier.

Generally I would rather hunt up from the bottom so the pack out is down hill. However if there are less hunters up higher I would really think about going in that way since I prefer to get away from other hunters as much as possible.

cool air flows downhill.........so as a bowhunter, I would come in from the low and hike up.....with the wind in my face.
