My daughter 2nd season last day. Was a rough year this year. Super dry. I passed up 10 2point bucks, several obviously older bigger deer with wide racks. Tag soup for me.
My daughter shot this 2point yesterday. Also a slightly older buck.
My son goes out next weekend.

I had one last chance to get out for my Idaho controlled hunt this past Saturday. I was about ready to shoot any 3 point or better, so luckily this was the first buck I came across. The bucks were getting pretty rutty already. Saw 1 other buck with an almost identical frame but he was a 2x4

Here is the first buck of the year for our crew. He ended up with a broken back and fell down into a muddy hole. Not a monster, but it'll do to start. We only have seen one muley in the 170+ range so far. Hoping to see more during the rut in a couple weeks.

Was able to help my friend tag his first mule deer!
Aged at 4 1/2. He passed up some younger bucks along the way, one was a 18" 4x5 that most anyone would have been happy to tag for their first buck. Bases were 5 1/2" back tines were over 16".
