I have a buddy that really wants to hunt whitetails in Texas. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Fair chase or high fence, that is the main question to ask when hunting down here! There are big whitetail to be found in "most" parts of Texas. What size of deer does he really want to hunt and how much $$$$$ is he willing to part with to hunt that deer? We routinely kill 130 to 140 class deer here in South Central Texas and have had quite a few 150-160 deer killed this year. Most all land is private and the land around here that is commercially hunted is normally high fenced. Would he be willing or does he have any hunts to trade? Ask away and I will try to answer as best I can.

He'd do a high fence if it was a big enough piece of property. I think he's looking at the Texas hill country primarily. I imagine he wants to stay under 4k including lodging.

I think 130-140 would be fine but somewhere where there might be an opportunity at bigger would be a bonus.

If 130-140 class high fence is ok by him then I would recommend Bill Carter's Ranches. The Sombrerito Ranch in South Texas or the Apache Springs Ranch in the Hill Country. I know there is a website for both and I personally have friends that hunt these ranches and have had nothing but good experiences. Let me know if I can help out any on this end.

There's a reduced price hunt on the HF site. This is the time of year you cold call ranches to see if they've had any cancellations. You can luck into some trophy hunts that are discounted from the deposits already being paid.

If he does have an issue with fences, this guy is as good as they come.
