My brother used the contrail last year 11 days in CO and was happy with it. now I'm thinking of getting it. He bought the carbon poll because he does not use trekking poles. the tent I was in had a layer of ice in the mornings but his did not. that was something that I was envious of. I had a one person mountain hardware.

Good info. The only reason I like the Notch a little better is because of the side entry. Is the Contrail easy to shimmy in and out of?

Outstanding picture, BTW.

I have always liked the Contrail tents!! Waiting for my tent to bite the dust so I can bite the bullet and get one. What a great photop BB!!
I have had the Contrail for years. There is no better option for a full protection 1-Man shelter that I have used.

Easy for a front loader. I can sit up in it at the front. It is like 80 plus inches long too.
That sounds pretty good.

I noticed the Notch has dual side entry and a dual vestibule to keep your pack and bow dry.

The Contrail vestibule looks like it is open in the front unless you close down the storm flaps, then it's gone. Is that correct? If so, can you fit some gear inside the tent? Looks like it might be wide enough.

i am not sure what you mean by this. The vestibule is the two part "nose" at the front of the tent. One side is staked out, and the other has a closure against the staked flap. I can usually keep my pack in the vestibule, and put my bow under a tree or the like. You could probably find a place inside for everything, but that is the way I do it.

Got it. When I first looked at the photos on their site I thought the storm flaps closed down flat on the front of the tent. Now I can see there is a little space in between.

Is there anywhere you can buy Tarptent other then online? I have been thinking about getting 1 but I like to see things before I buy them.

Well, I got my new Contrail in today. Seems pretty sweet. I have to seam seal it before it's maiden voyage from Aug 30 to Sept 8.

Thanks for the input.
