The taxidermist rates are usually higher because they have to do all the skinning/prep work on the hides. To send to a tannery you will need to prep the hide yourself. My taxidermist offers a much lower rate if you do the prep so you may want to ask around. $100 is the going rate around here but if you take in a hide truly ready to be tanned a lot of them will do it for $50.

I have used 2 tanneries and have been satisfied with both. the first is moyles mink and tannery, they are located in Id. The other is K and K tannery in Mi. K and K was a little more expensive and had a longer turn around time. Moyles was cheaper and quicker. Both turned out a nice product. Have had coyotes, mink, fox, fischer and otter tanned. Both places need to be fleshed, strechted and dried.

x3 on Moyle Mink and Tannery in Heyburn, ID. They do a good job on wall hanging type hides and are a good taxidermy tannery too! Good turn around time in my experience also.
