Good to finally sign up. SW wyoming guy that likes hunting and fishing. Get to do some backcountry stuff but most of my backpacking buddies have moved to colorado. I still remember the Rack Bracketing seminar Mike Eastman did in Rock Springs, Holiday Inn probably 22 years ago when I was 14 or so. Looking forward to talking to you guys and sharing tips and stories. Eastmans published me once so that was pretty cool. Don't be afraid to say hi.

It's fun to learn the area around RS, but you might not ever be able to hunt it.

I wish they would drop the 102 deer tags even more. I drew the area in 2006, and 2011. Both hunts where awesome with many opportunities for good bucks. I harvested a regressing 3 point in 2006, that was heavy and 28" wide and 24" tall. In 2011 I harvested a beautiful 170" buck. I drew the tag this year and saw about 50% of the deer than previous hunts. I ate my tag, I was not necessarily looking for inches but at least a 6+ year old deer. I hunted hard for 6 days and turned up over a dozen 3-5 year old 150-160" bucks. But not what I was looking for.

You've had the tag 3 times in 8 years? Wow. I had it in 09' and shot a 172ish Buck on September 1st. Buddy killed mid 180s with his bow and then the third guy killed low 190 with rifle. I have heard nothing but bad from down there. Sure, someone kills a nice one but they are down. Too many cats doesn't help. I know houndsmen and the season closes after first snow. Shouldn't that tell the G&F to up the quota until it's a little more difficult to fill it??

No doubt the tags other then antelope are tough to draw around here. My pickup can drive itself north to Pinedale by now. LOL
