Yes sir, I was blessed to draw the bighorn tag. I'm still in shock over that.
I didn't think of military boots, but that's a great suggestion. Most hunting boots are geared toward cold weather, and that's not what I need at all for the Texas desert in July. I'll definitely check those out. I'm leaning toward a 6" boot rather than 8" though, in hopes that it would be a little bit cooler. My feet get hot easy. I must not have poor circulation in my legs, I guess. On the other hand, taller boots might provide a little better snake protection. I think I'll have an easier time avoiding the rattlesnakes than I will the heat though.

I was just reading some reviews on Danner's site for the Acadias, and they do get rave reviews. This comment made me laugh:
I noticed that many of the reviews listed these boots as too heavy. These boots aren't heavy you're just weak.
