Suggestions for hot weather hiking boots for a sheep hunt

Yes sir, I was blessed to draw the bighorn tag. I'm still in shock over that. 
I didn't think of military boots, but that's a great suggestion. Most hunting boots are geared toward cold weather, and that's not what I need at all for the Texas desert in July. I'll definitely check those out. I'm leaning toward a 6" boot rather than 8" though, in hopes that it would be a little bit cooler. My feet get hot easy. I must not have poor circulation in my legs, I guess. On the other hand, taller boots might provide a little better snake protection. I think I'll have an easier time avoiding the rattlesnakes than I will the heat though.
I was just reading some reviews on Danner's site for the Acadias, and they do get rave reviews. This comment made me laugh:

I usually prefer Gore-Tex hiking boots, but that's for fall/winter mostly. I had planned to go without Gore-Tex on this next pair. Not a lot of water where I'll be sheep hunting, so I won't need it.

I would second the Hanwags. They are made right and you can get a near custom fit through Lathrop and Sons. Spend the money on aftermarket inserts. Then go out and break them in...I would put at least 20 miles on them before I would go on a sheep hunt.
I've worn the Blackhawks in Afghanistan and I had stiching separation. I went back to my normal issue boot and had no problems. Some people really liked the blackhawks and some hated them. I hated them, but that is just me. For the price you can afford to wear them out and get a new pair.

Used to wear 6" ers in hot weather, but got too many small pieces of gravel and other stuff in them. Went back to the 8", maybe just the way my feet/ankles are shaped.
