Just like to thank everyone that provided info. in response to my thread a couple months ago to an early season bow hunt in unit 12. Had a really good hunt and took my first ever elk, a 5 x 5, on the fifth day.

Yeah, he was chasing a cow in the timber behind my setup just after daylight and I did a couple cow calls and within a couple minutes he came quietly in to twenty five yards

Yes Genesis, it was completely a DIY public land hunt. Started with google earth, then a scouting trip in late July, and ended with about 10 hours of packing the 2 miles out to my truck.
Kevin, I may attempt at some point to recount the entire hunt. It really was a quite a story with many highs and lows.
