I've started packing, piling, and setting aside all the things I need (and don't need for that matter) for my Wy Antelope/Mule deer hunt. I know I'm forgetting stuff so I figured I'd ask you guys-

What are some things you forgot to pack or wish you would've brought?

We will be spending 7 days hunting and 4 driving.

Thanks!

This is a list of stuff I made up over the years for a week long hunt, it works for me and if someone else goes along I give it to them well in advance. I buy my food once I get to the area I'm going to hunt, usually a little cheaper that way.

Stuff to take:
Camera
Rifle and ammo in hard case
Tags, conservation stamp
Knife
Large comfortable day pack
Binocular
BLM map(s)
1 set of cold weather hunting clothes
1 set of hot weather hunting clothes
3 or 4 season tent, small so the wind doesn’t blow it away
Sleeping bag and pad
Sturdy boots, well broken in.
7-10 pairs of socks
Medications
Meat bags
Coolers
Small (backpack) stove and pot
Warm packable jacket
Food, water
Hunting regulations
Personal items, soap, tooth brush toilet paper etc.
Extra underwear

Nice stuff to have:
Leather gloves
Knee pads
Elbow pads
Hydration bladder
Soft rifle case
Down vest
Insulated gloves
Range finder
Spotting scope
Camp shoes
Gatorade
Small folding chair or stool
Bipod or shooting sticks
GPS/hunting map chip
Snacks
Light weight rain gear
Tweezer for cactus spines

Forgot my tent stakes a couple years ago. I always forget something and Im usually relieved when I figure out I forgot something thats not real important so I can stop worrying that it was something important. I have a friend that says as long as you have your gun and tag you can buy anything else you forget to bring!

Only thing I see missing that come to mind from this one is a camera. Other then that its a great list. Thanks for sharing that, probably something I might use to plan a future trip.

Last year I was going to borrow my buddies Swarovski spotting scope and left without it. Was a good excuse to stop at Scheels in Reno and I picked up my own Vortex spotter. I always seem to leave something behind.

(1) Chains (have ended up with multiple sets because of that one)
(2) Pillow (slept on a lot of rolled up towels over the years)
(3) Guilty on tent pegs, won't have that problem this year but I have to remember to put the tabs on the RV plates !!!!!!
(writing that on my checklist)

I don't make a practice of drinking on hunts but a tradition we have is to have a little "kill bottle" of high quality spirits. The guy who forgets this gets a little ribbing from the group. We like to take a shot in celebration the evening of our first kill.

I started packing for Wyoming last weekend, I lay in bed every night wondering what I'm forgetting. I decided last week that I'm dragging the travel trailer along like Oregon Jim, it will be nice to have it as base camp! Pain meds are one thing I need to have handy, my back tends to give me greif now and then, and don't forget wet wipes!
