Hi, I'm thinking about putting in for spring bear with my 12 year old son. I have 7 points for bear but he has no points. I want to hunt the eastside but I'm not sure which unit to apply for. Haven't spent much time in that area in a long time. Any advice?
Thanks!
Rob

This will give you an idea of what units you may be able to draw. There are general seasons too. Not much of a bear hunter, but they are thick in places in OR. More info on the spring bear anyone? thread.
I didn't know that website existed! Awesome - I won't have to buy the book. Unfortunately I won't have any teeth and be in a wheelchair the next time I draw an Antelope in the unit I want! But back to Spring Bear...
x2 on what Woodtick says
I have a good friend that used to hunt the Sled Springs unit and did pretty good - he would draw every 2 or 3 years. He is now hunting SW unit because there are more bears and he doesn't have to draw.

Glad you liked it. He does a good job with the odds, I like his alternate way to look at them, then look at the draw by PP's to zero in. May the odds be ever in your favor, in the 25% part of the random draw...

My son wants to shoot a bear, so I am going to figure it out in a year or two. Probably go NE for me, can stay for free in the MT. Emily unit. Bear have never been my cup of tea, so it should be interesting.

Spring bear is much easier then fall IMO. Lots of glassing in certain area's Dont know the age of your son but if he is young SW is an easier hunt. PM me if you want some more info/tips. I love spring bear!
