I'm looking for any information at all on Spring bear hunting in the beartooths of Montana. I've never done a spot and stalk bear hunt and I'm fairly new to Montana. looking for good access points in the later part of april and early may. I will be going on foot as I do not have horses. What are things to look for while after a bear in the mountains? Any information is greatly appreciated.

may be some very limited access in late april, but youll want to find south facing slopes with lots of fresh spring greens with lots of cover close by. I do not know that area though, sorry.

Thanks for the input! I was also considering the Little belts but with my new job that is pushing it for me. what about the crazies? Decent bear numbers there? I'm having a hard time finding anything on them as far as bear goes.

You may want to call the region four office in Great Falls and ask about the Highwoods range it's in the area of the little belts. I'm not a bear hunter.
