I’m up daily usually about 2am to remove most then again around 5am. Also many time throughout the day.
It’s Saturday so I just removed them all.
There isn’t mush more we can do but remove them when we see them.
There has been much more in the last couple months then before so not sure why that is but it’s on most all forums out there. Also social media platforms.
I'm not a computer tech savy/software dude, but I did sleep in a Holiday in last night :)

Id be interested how these other forums are keeping them out. Security upgrade? Software?

I know some have locked out all ip addresses from certain countries.

I'm a mod on some other forums and have found that you need to stay on top of them to keep them out.

Once they start posting and find that the post stays up for a few days that the spam will explode afterwards.

I've been unfortunate to have to stay around the house and not get out much once I returned from Africa and have been able to get on a lot of spammers within hours of them posting to keep them off of the other forums, but it takes time to do it. I have found that those forums that the spam filters may be set a little tighter than here. I think that just to the number of then that need approval before their post even hit the forums along with their IP, email address, and a few other things being flagged by the forum software.

Another trick that the spammers are using is to create a account and the post nonsense in the forums. Replies like "great idea", "that's what I'd do", and other nonsense. Then once they get their post up they will slam the forums. We watched one spammer actually post replies for a year and his post count was well over 100 before he hit the classifieds with fake for sale items and contacting other members that were selling items.

It's a never ending job.

It is never ending that’s for sure.

Come on Eastman's,you have to tighten up the spam control on the site.

Seems to me that there could be a forum where the first post of any new user goes strictly to an introductory forum. Basically, new users would only be allowed to post 1 post until the moderator approves them.

Then after moderator review, you can select a button approving them that would allow them to post to the main forum. Or at that point you could delete their account. This could allow you to potentially catch these spam posters before they make it to the general forums.

I am sure you guys have thought of about everything by this point in time though.

This morning was bad. Do you want us to report them all or just one per individual thread?

If it is a new post we will usually see it, but if it is embedded into a thread we have a hard time seeing it. So if it is just a new post we will see it and take care of it.

You have to remember that we have to sleep so the spam is usually cleaned up by this time in the morning once we see it. If I check it in the middle of the night I can take care of quite a bit of it

Please don’t report when they are on the New Posts or What’s New, only when you see them within threads.

Like Jim said we are working on getting these spammers removed throughout the night but we will Have times we will miss. On the norm you guys don’t see much but when situations like last night that we all happen to have a good nights sleep so you get to see the mess of spam we are dealing with!

Thanks for everyone’s patience!
