South Dakota Public DIY Mule deer - any tips?

We have a group of guys looking to do an OTC mule deer hunt this fall- probably looking at South Dakota. Any input on general areas that we should consider would be great. Not necessarily looking for only giant deer, but will not shoot small bucks either. We were thinking about checking out the large area of public around Wall, SD- again, any helpful tips would be appreciated.

Depending if you are bow or rifle, West river rifle might take a point to draw.

There are no mule deer in SD at all, the mountain lions have ate them all.........

I hear Colorado has some around 12,000 feet above sea level.

We spend some time around Wall. See very few deer. Game warden told us last October that numbers are way down.

That being said, we haven't gone looking for them either. Cool area, not a lot of deer. If memory serves me right they had leftover tags last fall. If numbers were decent they wouldn't be there.
