A friend of mine who's never hunted wanted to try it mostly just for the experience. He's kind of a gun nut and wanted to use an old Madsen M47 30-06 with open sights. I told him ahead of time that it might be hard for him to get a shot off especially since he only had the weekend to hunt. I glassed my eyes off Saturday and Sunday. We saw deer both days including a few small bucks, a big coatimundi, smelled some javis, saw a couple big skunks, and heard some illegals at dark. The full borderland southern AZ experience, lol. We had a chance at a spike Sunday evening but he moved into a thicket by the time we closed the distance enough. Highlight of the weekend though was this big buck that popped out right before dark on Saturday 380yd below us at the bottom of a big steep draw. Nice and tall with a forked right G2! All in all a good weekend!

Since I still had Monday and Tuesday off, I went out with another buddy Tuesday to help out. He ended up shooting a little 2x2 to tag his first coues! Good times!

I tagged my first this year as well in the early bow season. A little spork, but dang he's tasty! I throw in a few pics of some of the bucks we were chasing in August too.

Enjoy the pics!

This gets my anticipation growing for my hunt the end of December. I better go check my bags and make sure that I am ready.

The dec hunt is fun! The big guys start moving around! I'm usually out chasing them with my bow, haven't drawn a dec rifle tag yet... What unit if you don't make me me asking?
