One thing on a coues hunt for this kind of trophy is the highs and lows of the hunt. One of the most physical and demanding along with the glassing part, it isn't for the faint of heart.

I was 64 when I did this hunt, I should of done it when I was in my 40's.

Yep everyone should put Coues on their bucket list. I shot a nice buck with my bow in 2004. Even got it on video. I’ve hunted them since but haven’t taken another one being picky. Great buck JimP.

PS. I can post a picture if you don’t mind.

Living in AZ. for 45 years it gets to be your favorite. Even went to Mexico 5 different times. It's addicting. I shot a big Mullie once in a while. But coues are the best and hardest animal to hunt in North America. ......................BOB!

I actually thought about going for the whitetail slam after I shot this coues. I figured that I had the hardest one out of the way and they rest would be a lot easier.

Hopefully you don't mind me tagging in also JimP?
Not sure what it takes for a slam, but I did have a blast on the 2 coues hunts I've been on.
The first hunt was a late hunt and I'd never even seen a coues deer in my life until about an hour earlier when I saw a forked horn. When I spotted my buck I thought he'd do for my first one :). Not big like the ones in the above posts but I was happy for my first go at it DIY solo!

The next one I decided to gamble on an early October hunt and see what I could do. I would be in a different unit than the first time, but had some good insight from some great guys (now good friends) I met while javelina hunting the first time.
It was a very tough hunt, with hot weather. The deer were very hard to locate and mostly nocturnal. I actually used my still hunting experience on the last couple days due to needing to force the issue with time running out. Found this guy and his running mate, across a small draw from me, as they got up to change beds. He looked like a nice mature buck and that was enough for me :) !
For a guy from OR on only my second coues hunt DIY, I was more than happy with the outcome, even though he was a little short on points!

Cool thanks, I better get with planning that sitka blacktail hunt this year I guess :)
Kind of funny, I have been hunting AK for years, with family from there. But, I have never shot a sitka blacktail, mostly because I've always been trying to get species that I'm not allowed/can't hunt without my relatives with me (sheep, goat, grizz, moose and caribou in controlled units etc.)
