Seeking wildnerness teacher/homestead

I am avid outdoorsman that lives for the outdoors. I am 34 comes professionally from a public safety&real estate background in the midwest and gulf coast . But I want to change my life and escape the rat race lifestyle. I'm looking for a experienced outdoorsman looking to for a live in apprentice. In exchange for allowing me to live with you on your homestead and teaching me wilderness skills. I will be extra labor for chores and work around the homestead. I'd be happy just being allowed to live in my tent on your property and being an apprentice. I'm honest hard working person. Can provide references, background check. I will be completely dedicated. I will stay as long as you are willing to have me. From there forward I'll look for work in the area or whatever is decided. I know this sounds odd but I'm honestly desperate to get into the wilderness and change my lifestyle. If I could afford to buy my own land currently I would but that's not I'm the cards curently. That's one hell of a first post. Good luck getting off of the grid! Read a few of the posts on this forum and you'll be a few steps ahead of the game on your wilderness training.

It is one heck of a first post for this forum. But I'm dead serious about finding a homestead to live on. The burning in my gut to make it out west is just to much to ignore. So I'm going all out.

I am assuming that you are; 1. young 2. unattatched (no wife or kids or other baggage) 3. serious in what you say.
If so here is what I suggest. Check out a guide school, then see if you can get a guide to take you on as an apprentice. Check the big ranches, sometimes they hire summer help. Check into BLM or Forest Service jobs. Entry level is probably going to put you into a fire fighting position or something similar. I spent some of my early years in a very remote fire station for the USFS. If you are serious check into all of this stuff. You may find it a little tough to find a private land owner to take you in.

1. I'm young enough to start over. 2. Have decent job, house etc. But for right opportunity I'll leave it all in rear view mirror. 3. Yes I'm very serious about changing lifestyles and escaping rat race. I can't explain it other than I'm outdoorsman that wants to get down to base roots. I've already been pursuing the other avenues as far as BLM/forestry svc, ranch jobs, etc are concerNed but no solid leads yet. Far as guide school can't afford up front $$ cost as of yet for the hands on trail hand/guide school I'd like to attend. I didn't think it'd be easy to find a private land owner/homesteader and more exprerienced outdoorsman to take me in as apprentice in exchange for being (slave:)) labor. But worst that happens is I get no resonses, told no etc but I'd rather try and fail and keep on trying than not try at all. I really do want out of the modern life style and to improve my base wilderness and primituve hunting/trapping skills. Got to follow your dreams or life ends up just being regrets in the end.
