Secondary Draw Results

Monday the 8th is the secondary draw results.

I did apply for one of three buck tags that apparently didn't get paid for in the first round. Not likely but always a chance.
Applied my grandson for a leftover doe tag so hopefully his youth preference gets that one.

Just got notified I was not successful for the cow elk permit I applied for in the secondary draw. There were only 3 tags and I didn't think I would draw one, but you never know. I did draw last year in the secondary draw.

Both of my kids struck out on cow tags, still hoping one of them will get lucky with a buck tag.

Surprised the kids struck out. That will be the third so far I have heard of.

Yeah, kids usually do pretty well (by design).

Kid got:
Unit 69 Antelope Muzzleloader
Early Rifle Bear tag.
Struck out on Elk.
Struck out on Deer.

Both of my kids struck out on cow tags, still hoping one of them will get lucky with a buck tag.

After doing a quick look at the recaps it would appear a large jump in applicants for the secondary draw.

Probably due in part to the reduced number of tags available during the primary draw in some areas, especially the Northwest corner of the state, due to the severe winter a year and a half ago.

Yeah, kids usually do pretty well (by design).

The cow elk I applied for was 3rd season and there were 3 available. I applied knowing my chances were slim to none. All went to junior hunters. I really think Parks & Wildlife has done a great job in enhancing the kids chances to draw. These are our future.

Neither of us drew in the secondary.
I was hopeful my grandson would get the doe tag as even I drew one of 3 available 2 years ago.
