I don't think you can go wrong with the j34 just one eberlestock. It has a good scabbard set up so you can be hands free when needed. You can pack it as light or as heavy as you like.

I have the Tenzing 2200... I've lashed elk meat and deer to this pack...worked well enough for me... Not like a frame pack tho
