I am thinking of sub-leasing 6000 acres near Glendive, MT for ARCHERY deer and antelope season this fall. I am thinking 2-4 hunters. Just curious what others who have or checked into leasing in this area think would be a good dollar amount to ask for, thanks.

Would really need more details to answer. Some 6000 acre pieces aren't worth much and others are worth a fortune. I know of one 7,000 acre piece (in Wyoming) that is currently leasing for $11,500 for all hunting rights. It is loaded with animals and has the kind of habitat to hold elk, deer, and antelope. Another similar size piece a few miles away is going for $1500 because it doesn't hold much.

Ranch holds deer over most the place, whitetails and mulies, antelope may be around half the place. There is also upland birds if season is open. And I wish it had elk....

You should be able to get $1k+ per hunter fairly easily for deer. Not sure what people would pay for antelope in Montana but there are gobs of places in Wyoming doing it for $500 and less.

We get on a 10k ranch in SE MT for $750 a gun. There are 4 of us. We can have up to 10 days, but all 4 plan to hunt together over 5 days this year. It has MD all over the place, WT on about 1/2 and Antelope on 1/4 of the place. If we draw antelope we can hunt them for no extra $. The MD are small, WT can big, 150 ish possible for both. We feel they could charge more, but for us we think 750 is bit hi for dink MD.

Tim makes a good point. Trophy potential really impacts the price you can charge. None of us want to pay very much to hunt smaller deer.

Keep looking there are better deals then that. Seems like you can get by for $700.00 to $1,000.00 for 5 or 6 guys for 20,000 plus acres and expect a chance for 180 class animals . You need to build a relationship with a rancher, become a friend, help him for a day or two. Learn what is expected and respect the land. Always be on the look out for the next place. Take the ranch family out for dinner and drinks as a thank you. It's not just a money thing. Money opens the door friendship keeps the door open.

True that. I've met some great friends over the years.
