I think you're closer! My 2nd pair of bucks I show give me a reference since they're known scores!
I guided a bit in S texas and got decent on whitetails that were pretty big but it messes with you when you are measuring something you have never laid eyes on. I will estimate the other two you mention and see where i get.

Man. The last 2 you posted are tough...have to make assumptions about some of what is going on. Here goes...

4) 277
5) 206

Dead, that's my score on all of them.

In all honesty what's in a score? If it looks good to you, give them a dirt nap!

1-190 (started with 200" frame, took off 10" for weak 4s)
2/3 - 240 (Started with 210" frame then looks like about 30" of NT)
4 - 204 (Started with 195" frame then added kickers)
5 - 245 (Started with 220" frame and 25" of NT)
6 - 225 (Can't tell much from that angle about its backs, so will go low with a 185" frame and 40" of NT)

Did you do much photographing around Jackson in Winter 2011?

It is very hard to judge non typical mule deer. You can come up with a close main frame score but other then that it is very tough. Thanks for sharing the pics by the way.

Well I appreciate everyone who tried to score these deer. I'll post my guesstimate scores for these deer. I had the advantage of spending time with them and seeing them up close and personal. I've named all these bucks, helps me talk about them with my fellow deer photogs and friends.

Deer 1: "Big Sky" He's really a big deer with tremendous mass I give him 200"
Deer 2&3 Same buck "Maximus" He's unbelievable up close I give him 244"
Deer 3: "Sky High" Great buck that I've photographed for 4 years straight and he keeps getting bigger 205"
Deer 4: "Hercules" Another huge deer incredible mass 220"

Now these are measured deer

Deer 5: This great buck was "Big Lou" sheds measured 265" I can't recall what width they used or if it was the years sheds from my photo. He was perhaps the biggest bodied deer I've ever seen, must have pushed 400lbs.

Deer 6: "Godzilla" Road killed several weeks after I photographed him. Colo DOW has him mounted & scored. Right around 240" as I recall with the drop tine busted off. Drop tine is at least 12" so as he is in the photo low 250's....

It would certainly be a good time to have the pick of the litter.

What camera setup do you use? Those are some great pics

This was a fun thread. I am surprised that my estimates still ended up consistantly low by 10-30 pts and i was thinking the score was too high for me to not be missing something....if i only had a spreadsheet and zoom capability in the field. Oh wait, if i ever see anything close to the low scoring of the group I will know what to do.

Definitely post a link when you get the ebook finished.
