I have a friend out elk hunting right now. He is on a private land hunt where he is hoping to take something 330 or better. He just passed this bull and is wondering what it scored- my guess is 320. What do you guys think?

You're probably pretty close. Hard to tell looking down on him, but I'd guess 320 on the conservative end and 330-335 on the high end.

That is a 320-325 bull, pretty close to what he is looking for. Quick breakdown-good fronts, better than average thirds, ok 4ths, and ok 5ths. Main beams are decent, my best guess is that bull is probably about 5 1/2 years old.

If he can find one with just a little better main beams or 4ths he should push that 330 mark and will be pretty happy. Either way, great bull!

I shot a bull on public land close to where he is hunting last year that scored just over 350" (my avatar picture). The area has the genetics and numbers to warrant holding out for bigger. The problem he is having this year is that most of the really big bulls he has found are broken. He did find what he thinks to be a 340-350" bull this morning. He put him to bed in a small tree pocket high in a canyon and is planning his ambush for this evening when the bull comes out to feed. He passed the bull pictured above last night again. I'll post pictures if he gets him.

He never got a chance at the big bull. With yesterday being his last day he lowered his standards as he hates tag soup... Here is the bull he took in the last hour of the last day.

Would have been a great bull if it wouldn't have had one side so much smaller than the other.

That is a pretty nice bull to settle on. Glad he filled his tag. Settling for a 300" bull is a pretty good deal!

I would "settle" for that bull any year.. I would say he's 280s to 300. Hard with that camera angle, and his thirds are short. Congrats to the hunter though

That's great bull and a great hunt. I would rather hunt the entire season trying to kill the big one and end up with a bull like that than to kill the big one first light opening morning and not get to hunt. Congrats to the hunter.
