For what its worth... my issued was resolved. I don't think I had quite the problem you did but nonetheless, mine was an easier fix sounds like.

I would contact Weatherby and return it to one of their service centers. Weatherby has a lifetime warranty on their Mark V, not sure about the Vangards. Let them fix the problem or give you a new gun.

Over the years Weatherby has used many different actions. It all depends on how old the gun is. Early on they used commercial Mausers (I have one and so does a friend of mine), Springfield and whatever else they could get. More recently almost all MVs and Vangards.
