So about a month ago I entered a raffle to show some support for a kids baseball team and the top prize was the rifle. To be honest I didn't know what type of model the rifle was but I entered in it anyways more for the support. Turns out I won the rifle and it's a Savage Axis in .308. I really don't know much about this model. Just want to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions on this gun.

I've heard it's not a bad gun at all. It's accurate like most Savage's. The only negative is the trigger, but there's aftermarket triggers to take care of that.

I bought one for my niece and have not had any problems with it. The 7mm-08 is very accurate and came with a decent scope. Only negative I can think of, is you have to purchase any extra magazines directly through Savage.

One thing for sure, if you think you are going to sell it....don't shoot it. New in box (NIB), unfired is worth more than if you shot it.

I own the Savage Edge, which is basically the exact same gun as the Savage Axis and I love it. It is accurate, cheap, and gets the job done! I killed my bull elk last year with it and a cow elk the year before. Mine is chambered in .30-06.
