sand hill crane hunt

there are a lot of sand hill cranes that hang out in the basin below where we always set up our base camp for elk, and we get them crossing our paths as we elk hunt sometimes. I decided to pick up a couple of crane tags to give it ago this fall. open for only a short while but its open during the time ill be archery hunting. so why not? don't hear many people in the west talk about crane hunting, ive heard they taste great, looking forward to trying it. any one else one here that have hunted cranes?

I have thought about it but haven't gotten a tag. I too have heard they are good eating.

I've never hunted them but I wish I could try it someday. Unfortunately nebraska doesn't allow it. I've also heard they taste great. Prime rib of the sky!

we have lots of cranes in Alaska. They are the prime rib of the sky !!!Succulent creatures eh.. They have excellent vision and usually like the middle of the field.

I see the sandhill cranes migrating through the CO Western Slope area in spring and fall, and when they started offering tags for them I wondered who in the world would want to shoot one of those things?--I didn't know they were such good eating.

They're excellent table fare. Been hunting them most years since I was young. We just set a couple sandhill crane decoys in front of the blind with a few dozen hones set up towards the middle of the field. Usually works pretty well.

Prime rib of the sky for sure! I only hunted them once. My buddy got one and it was good eating!

I have promised my daughter a deer hunt, but have not decided where to go.

Nice one! Went and saw the new one. Hated it. Hollywood is awful. All they did was try to see how many cuss words they could get in. The movie starts off with rapper saying m.f. over and over. Just unnecessary. Don't waste your money.

On a different note I would like a breast and wing snack pack with a roll, fries, and some slaw. Oh yea and a large sweet tea! And if you don't know since most of y'all ain't from around here, it only comes fried! Fresh fried Sandhill crane...man I'm hungry now.
