Picked one of these up for 250$ at Cabelas.

Worth the money paid? YES

Easy to set up? Not too bad

Clear optic? Yes

Light and compact? YES

Wind Drift computing (10MPH CROSSWIND)? YES

Will it actually range out to what it says? I didn't range past 500 yards because I cant see that far from the house but I wont shoot at an animal that far anyhow.

Did I try to range a deer sized target at 400 yards? Yes and it worked

6X optical lens? Yes

Easy to change battery? Yes

Low battery indicator light? Yes

Bright cross-hair? Yes

I had some issues with that POS Nikon-400 I had hunting this past season so I picked this up with my Cabelas points. This is one complex rangefinder. I finally got it figured out though. Got it set up for my .300 WSM.

I was always a fan of sighting in for 100 yards (Personal Preference) but it does require you to be sighted in for 200 or 300 yards.

If anyone else gets one of these feel free to PM me if you need help getting it set up if you have any troubles.

The newer RX-i's with TBR/DNA are good units. My brother has the 1,000, no wind, it works very well as far as we need to shoot.

Thanks for the review. I've been wanting to get a less expensive rangefinder to carry predator hunting when I don't need my bino/rangefinder combo. Sounds like this might be perfect for that and for carrying in my truck.

I see Cabela's has a SIG Kilo 850 on sale for $150. From what I've heard, they are solid units.

I have the rx-1200i TBR and I absolutely love it. I never had a range finder prior but this was the best investment I've ever made. I've ranged targets like rocks out to 1100 yards no problem as long as I can keep my arm steady. I usually use it in trig mode but it does come with helpful cartridge groups to pick from. Great buy!

I have the 1000 TBR, and have never quite reached out to a 1K reading. Conditions, such as fog or rain can have a big impact, but it will always read to as far as I can consider shooting in those conditions. I gave my first one to a guide who had lost his, and I then replaced it with a Bushnell 800, but it wasn't nearly as good, so I bit the bullet and got another TBR with no regrets.

i upgraded to the rx-1200i TBR this year and was very impressed with the unit, I did get readings up to 1400 yards with it against a large cliff face.

You may a good purchase. I used one last fall in Montana on a deer hunt in open county, and could get about 800 yards out of mine against hills with short grass. To me that's just fine, because at least you know whether or not you are close to rifle range. The red LED display is really nice too, much better than my old Nikon I use sometimes.
