Rut is begining

Just saw 3 bucks in my pasture sparring back and forth. one 3x4 and 2 forkies. Necks all swelled up and looking very sleek and fit. Usually starts around Thanksgiving, weather cold and rainy for the last 3 days. Expect to see some bigger boys too. I'll try and get a few pictures.

They were rutting full bore last week in SD for my hunt. We actually saw some smaller bucks that had eyes gouged out and oozing. That is the first time I had ever seen that. It's always fun to watch them lip curl and push does around. Better entertainment than what is on most tv channels that's for sure!

Down here in SW Colorado that all we have. I've been here 13 years and you can almost bet that the rut will be around Thanksgiving.

Nope. But I'll probably be hunting 81 next year for M/L elk.

Rut on full bore now. On my way to the gym for my daily workout this am, saw several bucks hot after the does. The only thing is this year have seen a lot fewer big bucks, mostly small 4x4s and lots of forkies. Saw a real nice 2 x 2 this am, probably 20" wide by 24 high. This year I have seen far fewer big bucks than is typical and I really don't know why.
