Years ago I got tired of all the cleaning stuff that I had just being in a drawer of a old dresser that I had. I went and bought a fishing tackle box and started to place my cleaning equipment into that. It has since grown to where I have a large box with different compartments in it where I can place the jags and brushes into depending on the caliber that they are for. The bottom of the box will hold the cleaning solvents, rags, oils, and patches. The only thing that doesn't fit into this box is the one piece rod itself.

As for cleaning in the field, I try to avoid it. But I carry a small breakdown rod that I will keep at camp and for packing around I have a old Ottis kit that will fit into a pocket if needed, other than that I will carry it on my 4 wheeler.

Otis field kit that's in the bigger bench kit. I hunt with electrical tape on my barrels regardless of season. I carry a .30 cal and a .284 cal in the field kit and have saved more than one hunt for my buddies and others I just met in the woods or trailhead.

I had the old Hoppe's cleaning kit and odds and ends here and there. Always seemed unorganized.

Picked up a Plano shooters case and consolidated all my gun cleaning equipment in one box. It goes with me on every hunt -- big game, turkey, waterfowl, etc.

I can clean every gun I own with the items in that case: shotguns, rifles, muzzy, bb guns, etc.

Cary bore snakes, jags, brushes, toothbrushes, Rem Oil, Hoppe's #9, copper cleaner, tools to work on scopes / optics, extra pair of shooting glasses, ear plugs, bore light...you name it, I probably have it in that box. Pretty well weather sealed, it has sat out in back of my truck in driving snow storm...no problems at all.
