Definitely a compliment...Enjoy Hawaii. Your elk hunts are expensive to, I see. Mine cost me a pair of diamond earrings. Gotta keep the better half happy. That is if I wanna continue to hunt and fish as much as I do.
Been married to her for 50 years on the 20th of this month,,,,she deserves it for putting up with me all these years!!! Over the years it has cost me some nice gifts, but I probably would have done that anyway.
Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement. The Doc says that I should expect at least 10 years out of the joint, possibly more. I will be 73 when the procedure is done, so 83 is the target.... Hell I'm just getting started. My Dad hunted until he was 92. I got him an elk when he was 90. That's my goal!!!
Just got back from Maui today and the ankle did pretty well. Had a cortisone shot just before I left and it did the job. Am having the surgery Tuesday AM. Be in the hospital 2 days. Man am I ready....
Good luck with the ankle surgery. You'll be really glad you did it.
[Opening narration, version 1 - The Six Million Dollar Man]
Harve Bennett: Steve Austin, astronaut. A man barely alive.
Oscar Goldman: We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.
Got out of the hospital Thursday afternoon. Learning how to manage getting around the house with the knee scooter I rented, much better than crutches. Doc says everything went well. Had more of a problem with adjusting interior & exterior ligaments going down to the ankle. Outside one was stretched and the inside had shortened causing my ankle to curve inward. I have to pretty long incisions on each side plus the one on my instep. Cannot put any weight on it for 4 weeks, then I will wear a boot and start pt.
Glad your ok ,I hunt four days archery deer in December then go into replace the left knee and hopefully I can keep up with my buddy if Idaho in September
it's amazing what the medical profession can do these days. I'm a month past my shoulder surgery and have 2-3 more weeks in the sling before I can really start P.T. The surgeon say's that regaining normal function in my shoulder is essentially zero and that a joint replacement will probably be in my future. I didn't even realize that they could replace a shoulder joint I'm just hoping that I'm good enough by next moose season to get after them. I'll worry about replacing it down the road sometime.

Really glad I had my left knee replaced 8 years ago. I was barely over 50 but had all the cartilage removed in high school.
Nothing I can't do but the doc doesn't like me to run or jump on it. Never had a problem except with the extra time at the airport. Go through the rotary scanner to save time.
You'll be walking the same day without pain. Your rehab will suck for a couple days when you sit on the ground and lift your heel.
Most of the swelling will be gone and most of your range of motion back in 3 months but you'll be walking every day without pain almost from the start. Mainly, it's just a matter of building up the thigh muscles again.
Swelling should be completely gone and full range of motion by 12 months. You won't have any problem with your fall hunt if you work hard on your uppper legs. In fact, you'll do way better than you did the fall before.
One last thing - make sure the guy who does your surgery does nothing but knee replacements. That's extremely important and I mean that.
