Don't let anyone BS you, there is no way to get away from the crowd in region W unless you have exclusive trespass rights to private property. It is so popular because there is a road or trail down every draw and along the edges of every ridge, so you don't actually have to step out of your truck or off of your ATV. It's too bad because the region has some of the best mule deer habitat in the state and fantastic genetics, but "sportsmen" being what they are, there are ATV trails into every canyon in the region. The recently retired game warden from the region mentioned to me that he hoped things would turn around before the Baggs mule deer herd went extinct.
Look for a spot on your maps that is more than 1/4 mile from a two track road and make a stand, the orange army might push something past you...
If it was your second choice, you probably won't be dissapointed, you might bumble into a 3 - 4 1/2 year old, take it.
