I must be old and slow Scott, as it took us 6 hours to go 2 1/2 miles. I suppose that big cliff we had to climb slowed us down some as it took over two hours and we didn't really travel much lateral distance while climbing it. For us flatlanders, a big factor is hiking in with full packs on day one before we have any chance to acclimate. We packed two deer out on day 7, and went back in with mostly empty packs to get our camp on day 8, and then it only took 2 1/2 hours. I believe that it would have only added an hour if we had full packs. Take your time, be careful, and bring a good set of hiking poles.
