I have been hunting for about 35 years with compound bow and rifle. Mostly rifle sold my bow couple years ago and would like to get back into bow hunting with traditional bow ( recurve ). Never have hunted with a recurve and need all the equipment to get set up. So I am asking for some info on what type of recurve I should buy for a beginner bow. I would like to hunt with the same bow I going practice with. Any help would be great as I am new to style of hunting.

I shoot a Martin Hunter bow and love that thing. Excellent advise by Umpqua Hunter above also. I have heard good things about that company. When I was looking to get my first bow I talked to a lot of folks and just about every person suggested the Martin Hunter saying that unless you wanted to pay 3 times what it cost you aren't going to find one that feels and shoots like the Hunter model. Good luck and good hunting.

The best way I have found to get someone a recurve is to go to a gathering/jamboree or shop with many different bows and shoot as many as you can a let a bow pick you not the other way around.

I like Yellowstone Custom Bows link = http://www.yellowstonebows.com/ I shoot the longbow and have killed more than a few elk with one.

You should enjoy the process have fun looking over and if possible shooting a bunch of bows and in the process one will stand out.
