I think it's a Howa action right? You are right that it is a 3 position safety, but it is still a straight forward push to remove it from safety. Not exactly like a Remington 700, but not like a Ruger M77 or Winchester 70 that has to swing around to be taken off safe. You are right, I should have explained what I meant better. I don't like any safety on the side of a rifle that can be pushed straight forward to take it off safe. I had a Colt light rifle with a Remington style safety that kept rubbing into the fire position against my pack when I carried the RH bolt rifle over my left shoulder. Never had that problem with a tang or Winchester/Ruger style 3 position so I stick with them now. May not be an issue for most, but it's why I don't own a Tikka despite all the good I hear about them.
Have you looked, handled and "fiddled" with the Tikka ? I can't imagine how one could accidentally get pushed off safety - My biggest complaint about them is that they have not taken the time or trouble to add a 3rd function to it as Sako's have

Straight from Brownings website "Composite stocks provide superior durability and accuracy as well as a defense against the elements that can cause wood stocks to warp and swell. Browning composite stocks are made from the toughest materials; many of them, such as the stock on the x-bolt are made from glass fiber reinforced polymers." So they aren't wood. Does that change anybody's mind about which one they'd go with?

I prefer the looks of wood stocks but I tend to scratch em up bashing through brush so now I prefer owning composite.

My sub moa vanguard I bought in 2009 is the most accurate rifle I own.

A friend of mine just got the Browning Alaska bound mentioned in 270wsm. It is a beautiful gun and got it for the tang safety and brownings reputation for accuracy but he isn't impressed with its accuracy. 1.5" group at 100yds with 130 gr nosler ballistic tip. He may need to try different rounds but initially he wasn't impressed with accuracy.
