Photobucket has recently changed their allowances on 3rd party hosting. I've used Photobucket for years to store my photos well over 10k. They have always been very easy to access and post photos.

I notice this morning on an old thread that poped up that my photos are unavailable without upgrading. I checked into the cost and they want $400 to allow 3rd party hosting per year! Wow ya that's not gonna happen.

If anyone else is using Photobucket to post photos anywhere on other websites or forums expect the same.

I've switch to Tapatalk now and there is a bit of a learning curve on how the forum is set up but it seems to be very easy to post photos.

Just a heads up to everyone

Thanks

Trent, thanks for the heads up. I tried to view your post this morning and signed up for photobucket, I didn't pay anything though. Now I'll delete it.

I have been hearing the same on other forums it is just taking them time to get to everyone.

So far all of my pictures that I have with them are still showing up but then I haven't uploaded any in a couple of weeks.

Trying my photobucket account...a mom spruce hen and her chick from yesterday. So far they haven't asked me to upgrade! Holding my breath!! One thing about photo bucket is you can click on one of these photo's, then scroll all photo's I have stored on photo bucket.

The word around the campfire in the snowboard/ski community/forums is the same and it seems it is just a matter of time you either pony up $400 bucks or the pics they housed for you will no longer show up.

I am not going to pay 400 to basically a data collection company fronting as a photo housing site.. Going to move to the next in line...

Any photo I have is backed up on a pc and external hard drive so no big worry but kinda a bush league move by a denver company or bucket. With that said if they retain only 3-4% of their total users and I bet they will retain about that level.. Well anyone involved with the dosbucket will make out quite well.

It is fun to have photo's "pop" and third party hosing does that for a price. For now I am just going to trust the forum I am posting on and download the pics as that to me seems the option for me right now. Still I just looked back over some old threads in a couple of different genera and it will be sad to see snowboard tr's from years past or live pics/video of the cover buck from 2016 backcountry edition of eastmans - poof gone.

As a follow-up, I did get an e-mail from photo bucket about third party hosting after loading and posting the grouse photos here. Like IKIC said, the yearly price was up to $400. I deleted my account with them and advised that i am not interested in paying that much to share a few photo's.
I could maybe see paying if someone was doing it commercially, but not for what we are doing here. Oh well.
