Thats all you need laxwyo. I think they removed that material on the old style because it wasnt needed and saved some weight. In load sling mode its tightened closer at the bottom then the top forming a kind of "pinch at the bottom so there is really not any weight on those straps. I have the Pro 7200, same system, and have not packed meat out yet but have put 50# in a bag put it in there and tried it out. Works great!

I looked at the directions today and the bottom connector straps is when they're using as a pseudo shelf and it did say that there wouldn't be much weight on it. I'm a little worried about having a game bag with boned out meat in it. This would act more as a fluid and just curious if it would slip a ton and ooze down between the straps

I just got my exo mountain 5500 in the mail yesterday but spent way more than $200 on it. I still have an Eberlestock for sale. I wanted more but I'll sell it for $200 to you only. It is a great pack for what your looking for. It has a hydration bladder area, extra camp duffel, gun scabbard and works well as your day pack. It packed out two elk this year so it has been used and proven. Good luck. Let me know if your interested.

I think you will find you wont have any problems laxwyo. The toughest part is always getting the meat for the game bag!
