Pack Frame/BadLands 2200 Hybrid

I love an external frame for packing a lot of weight but I can't stand hunting out of one once im packed in. I saw the BL ox go on camofire today and was about to pull the trigger on it when I got the idea of combing my alaskan pack frame and BL 2200. Thought it would be the best of both worlds, pack a ton of weight, and disconnect the 2200 once I get to camp for hunting. Oh and wouldnt cost me a dime either. I was optimistic, but I had nothing to do and gave it a shot any ways.
It ended up working out a lot better than I expected. Loaded it up with 2 20 lb sacks and took it for a spin and worked very well. It takes less than a minute to connect or disconnect as well. Im going to take an over night trip in it with in the next few weeks but ill bring some extra zip ties and bungee cords in case something breaks.
Hard to explain how I did it but here are some pics. In one of the pics the pack is sagging to the right, just had to re-adjust the load and it road even.

That is my exact setup right now. I'm looking at the mrcrewcab, eberlestock blue widow, and of course the kifaru and kuiu right now. It all depends on how good of a deal I can get.

Have you had any of the straps break DR? Thats really my only concern. It doesnt seem like they will. It rides just as good as the actual pack that came with the frame, im excited to try it out.

Negative on straps breaking. The badlands are pretty tough in my experience. I have broke straps on my Alaskan though.

I have an Eberlestock J104 that I really like, but the lack of functional load lifters makes it pretty miserable with a really heavy load. The crewcab, Kifaru Timberline, and Kuiu Icon all have well-designed functional load lifters and are a better choice for an expedition-style hunting pack.

Thanks bb.that is a big concern for me. The bigger concern Is finding a kifaru, kuiu or mr in my price range when I'm ready to buy.

Just my opinion here... A while back I had mentioned I had a pack out on my mule deer because I was foolish enough to leave my pack behind to move quickly. Though I can never complain about my buddy being kind enough to let me pack out an animal with his bag. It did make me appreciate my pack more than ever before. And I swore i would never use anything but an external frame. His bag was a Kifaru and was awesome in all areas except when the weight got loaded down. It just would not stay tight to my body.

So not sure if Kifaru makes an external frame or not but just something to think about.

Forgot to take a picture but I can loosen the load lifters on the 2200 where it connects to the frame and stick a game bag with a quarter in it just like you can with the OX. I hope it will work as well as I think. We'll see when I knock down a bear later this month haha

I am working on a very similar setup right now. have you tried to strap a bow on there by chance. I will try to post pics once i get every thing on there the way i want it. I am having a little trouble getting my badlands ultra day pack to stay where i need it and still strap my bow on.
