My buddy in Wyoming drew the Oregon OIL California BigHorn Sheep tag for the E Beatys Butte/Alvord Peaks #2 hunt for 9/3-9/16 in southeastern OR. It is the only NR tag issued for the unit and there are only 3 residents that drew the tag. If anyone knows anything about the unit, I would appreciate any information you could pass on for this great hunt. Thanks!!!

Sorry, I don't have any intel on that one. You may try posting on ifish hunting forum, it's more Oregon hunting. There may be someone who has info there, like any other forum its good to introduce yourself befor asking for help. Sheep hunts are a little differant since not many get the chance to hunt and ones that have like to share info. Good luck to your buddy! Congrats to him on the tag.

Wish i could help you but i haven't spent much time in that area before. I would contact the district bio. They will put you on the sheep. If you go on ifish, like TS said you will want to introduce yourself first. A lot of the members can get pretty nasty to people asking for help that havent posted much before.
Good luck!

My buddy and I have been doing a lot of research and I just got an email from him that he's decided to go on what I would call a semi-guided combo hunt for both the sheep tag in OR and elk tag in NV with Chuck Messner out of Adel, OR. Adel is right on the western border of the Beatys unit and he literally lives with the sheep in that unit! Chuck comes highly recommended by a number of guys that went with him on their sheep hunts, including a guy that just wrote a feature on his hunt that was in the NOV 2012 issue of Huntin Fool. Chuck is also really getting into guiding in the NV area where John drew that tag. John figured the two tags he drew are just too darn rare to take a chance on a DIY hunt and the good part is that I will be able to go along to help on the hunts. He's going to call me later tonight with some of the details, but it sounds like we will be camping just like we had intended if we did it DIY and Chuck will strictly be doing a bunch of scouting ahead of time and then just guiding on the hunts, rather than providing lodging, meals, etc. I hope to have some good photos for you guys to look at later this year. Thanks and good luck on any and all of your hunts!
