Hey there Nevada guys! Wanted to touch bases with everyone once more. Just got home from my visit to reno this weekend. Had my orientation at UNR yesterday. Everything is falling in place and my ducks are in a row. I will be moving from Nor Cal to Reno, right around August 15th or so. I am very excited. Applied for a job at cabelas, fingers crossed. Didnt draw any NV tags but thats okay; Gonna hunt D3-5 in CA.
If any of you Reno guys do any type of gatherings or are a part of any clubs or anything like that, I would love to hear about it. I am looking to find a group of guys to shoot bows with, and maybe learn about local fly fishing and hunting spots with. Or even local conservation groups/events. I would love to be put in touch with any groups like that, while Im living out there! Anything to meet more outdoorsmen and learn about my new surroundings. Give me a shout!

Thanks guys! Hope everyone is doing great.

Good luck with your move and your ongoing education-knowledge is power. Also good luck with your job application.
Cabelas seems like it would be a good place to work and get to talk to other people with similar interests and get paid tp do it.
Hopefully I will get a chance to stop by the Reno store when my in July.

There are all types of organizations. NBU, RMEF and all the regulars. Wasting arrows seems to be the hot spot for shooting bows. Pretty sure he does meets and shoots regularly. Reno Fly Shop used to have a group that planned fishing excursions and had tons of knowledge but for some reason I thought they closed. Maybe someone else knows if they are still open.

Silver arrow bowmen, clear creek bowmen and the groups in yerington and Fallon are good ones to join. Lots of fellow bow hunters and lots of archery shoots.

I highly recommend goin to nbu dinner.

Honestly best way is to go beat the hills. Lots of deer in the mountains surrounding the reno area and some big ones.

Ryan, good luck and remember to bring fresh trout home for your mom. For your dad bring home info on some new fishing spots and learn how to fish Pyramid lake!

Thank you guys for all the great suggestions. I will definitley be following up on those. Ikeepitcold, if your group needs any volunteers for your big buck big bull event, I would be happy to lend a hand if I am free.

Welcome to Reno, UNR is an awesome college experience! There is a club on campus called Cast and Blast you should definitely check out. I am not sure if it was around when I was there (being a local my outdoor schedule was always full) but I know a few guys who have been a part of it and loved it.

Also, take a look at NBU, they do guzzler builds in the spring which are an amazing experience. You can sign up for their volunteer email blasts on their website. I know Cast and Blast does a lot of work with them as well.

Reno Fly shop is still open as is The Anglers Edge in Gardnerville. I'm affiliated with The Anglers Edge, feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the area. We fish Pyramid on the fly all winter. Welcome to Nevada!!!!
