The Sierra units are closed as of now. 6 bears have been taken and that is the quota. The other units are still open.

That's not much of a quota. Is that on the east side of Tahoe?

Yes I believe so.

We don't have many bears in that area I guess so it closes early.

It's new quota system NDOW is trying out to reduce sow harvest. There's still 8 more bears to be taken in the other units. Sierras closed with 5 boars and 1 sow being taken.
