Too bad he wasn't in a more accessible location and the sun wasn't coming around. I would have flung an arrow in his general direction for my first archery kill.
No, those pictures were taken 660 yards away, we would have had a 2 hour hike around the mountain to get the wind in our favor. He ended getting up and moving out of sight about 10 minutes after I took those pictures.
Saw this buck from quite a ways away, put on what started off as a perfect stock. Then I took my eyes off the ground for one second and stepped on a twig. This buck's little buddy stood up and busted me at 40 yards. They took off, I drew, but he never stopped to give me a reasonable shot. Frustrating and fun all in one.
While looking for that buck yesterday, the elk moved in so I snapped a shot of this bull.
