My Dad got lucky enough to draw the early season archery elk hunt in Nevada units 72 & 74. He is really interested in making this a DIY hunt that he can bring my brother and I on to use for extra support. This is going to be a family outing so we want to make sure it gets done right. We have all the gear minus horses and no expendable cash to hire one of the local guides, so i am turning to the forum for any advice you had on making this hunt a success. Thanks!

"Oh yea for sure. Let me go get my notebook filled with GPS coordinates."

It's a public land hunt my friend.. Just looking for some friendly advice, not trying to invite myself to your camp. Too bad though, yours sounds like fun, if only NASCAR wasnt racing that weekend, I would hate for you to miss out on some Budweiser.

And yes candafish.. sounds good, there's way too much for a single party to cover..

Any (useful) information would be great. Thanks!

Busted! I do luv me sum good'ol NASCAR (Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks).

Most everyone on this forum and also other forums are extremely helpful. There is one major exception to this though, and that's when someone is looking for advice on where to hunt on their very first post. Even with that being said, I wish I had some good info to share with you but I know absolutely nothing about those units. If I ever come across something ill send you a pm. You've probably heard it already but my only advice to you is to do your research, scout if you can, and have a plan A, B, C and maybe D on where to hunt. I only had a plan A last year on a hunt and it didn't go the best. Best of luck to you with your tag and share some pictures this fall.

Hey I hear ya on that one! I considered posting my add on Craigslist first just to test the waters, but I didn't want to discuss animal rights or creation first. I'm not new to the site, just new to the forum. I know there's a lot of very knowledgeable members on hear and was just hopin someone could tell me to turn north or south. But, I appreciate the advice and look forward to posting pictures early this fall. Thanks for the pointers..

Congrat's on the tag. I hunted that area last year with a friend that had an archery tag it was a great hunt found elk everywhere that we went. It never worked out for us but we had a great hunt. I also drew that archery tag this year so I might see you out there. Good luck
