Having drawn a Utah pronghorn tag.

Ordered paper maps and started asking questions.
I fish Powell every year but have never hunted big game there.
Other than a swan but I hired a guide for that.

I do a lot of research before applying so I know WHY I'm going where I go. That said, I'll start to fine tune my hunt areas and continue preparing gear (as if I need to, but keeps me sane- somewhat) in anticipation of the day I head west.

Try to figure out how to get more vacation time :)
You just need to retire, then you will have more honey doo's to do than you had at work. But hunting and fishing in the middle of the week is the best.

For me perhaps one or two scouting trips. My general deer tag in Utah if for a area that we hunted way back in the 60's but nothing much has changed other than a few roads into some homes. My muzzle loader tag here in Colorado is in my home area so I'll just take a couple of day rides to see what is happening but other than that I know where the bigger bucks hang out at so it is just a matter of getting to them.

Haha continue waiting another two weeks for AZ deer/sheep draw results. Then I’ll order maps.

Loveland, CO. was AZ.
Continue to do my walking, riding my road and mountain bikes to keep myself in check physically. Then get my gear in order and head to the mountains on weekdays for scouting before the archery opener....

Order maps if it's a new area. I also try and use google earth, and do at least one or two scounting trips.

Camp/backpack a fair bit, so my gear is more or less hanging on racks ready to rock & roll-unless it needs replaced or I want to splurge on a new toy ( probably not this yr as finances are tight ![emoji53] )

1. Fine tune rifle/load

2. Order paper map of the unit drawn

3. Practice, practice, practice

4. Take my workout a little more seriously

5. (See #3) [emoji6]

Same here, I already have a pretty good idea of when/where I'll be hunting. January-September is usually spent stacking up brownie points with the wife to justify being gone October-December.
