A little advice for those NR that drew a tag.
Don't wait to make phone calls for access. Ranchers will be haying starting in July, that makes for long days on the swather. Call after dark but don't wait til 9 pm. Most are in bed by then.
Don't be afraid to talk with their wife about access. Ask if they allow trespass fee hunting, sometimes that gets you in the door instead of just asking about hunting for free.
If it's a family trip let them know. Most like it when wives and kids will be hunting also.
Know when you are coming out, don't be vague.
Offer to help out on their property if you have time.
Most would rather have the same hunters year after year that they trust, let them know you are looking for a long term hunting relationship.
Ask them what they are seeing for game, they see the animals every day. Many may not hunt but will know where the animals like to hang out on their property.
Don't get discouraged, make lots of calls and talk with the game warden and biologists in the area.
If you are hunting the forest , call the regional Forest Service office and ask about timber sales and logging in the area. Some roads may be closed due to logging activities.
Check lots of different maps out, Onx maps can have mistakes on them, I speak from experience here.
