Previously, 10 wolves from Oregon were brought into Colorado in December 2023, another 15 from British Columbia in January 2025, so this is the time of year when CPW would like to release the next group of wolves ... but they can't find any. Our neighboring states (Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho) have refused to provide any wolves to Colorado and because of the Endangered Species Act’s 10(j) federal officials are now saying future imports must come from the defined U.S. regions (ie NOT British Coloumbia). He's a link to the CPW Announcement just released saying, "Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) announced today that it currently has no plans for translocating additional gray wolves this release season and continues to explore options for translocations in winter 2026/2027. I also wonder if they got a notification from the Colorado State Leglesature that Colorado was broke as far as finances and they didn't want to dump more money into the wolf program for now.
