NM turkey

Just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with turkey hunting the Lincoln nf or the carson nf around the cruces basin wilderness.

We went into the the Lincoln around mid-April last year and got into lots of sign but only heard one gobbler. We were just outside Cloudcroft.

There are planty of turkey in the LNF. Its usually pretty windy that time of year. PM me if you would like some more info.

It wasn't that windy the weekend we were there. It was the weekend draw results came out last year so the weekend of 19 April. Maybe they had been hunted enough that they weren't responding.

We hunted them for a week around Ruidoso last year and had plenty of encounters and gobbles. All henned up but we were within 100 yards of several gobblers and heard them and were into them every day.

If I go back I'm packing into the wilderness for a week.
