NM GMU 24 - Anyone ever hunt it?

I Never hunted NM but have a chance to get a landowner private land voucher for unit 24 Archery either sex Elk Sept 1-24.
Is that unit worth hunting? It would have access to one ranch as well as public land in that unit.
Also I am under the impression that the permit would allow me access but I would still need to buy the non-resident tag? Looked like it would maybe be 780 but not sure?

Any info would be much appreciated.

I've hunted unit 24 in the past but for deer, not elk. I know the state runs a very limited hunt for elk in the unit due to the low numbers. If the place you're hunting is towards the northern end of the unit it may be better since it borders the Gila Wilderness in some parts. Good luck.

I haven't actually purchased the voucher. It's an archery hunt on line on ebay. The seller seems legit. It's a unit wide hunt from the 1st of sept to the 24th. The property is near Pinos Altos but if not butting up to the Gila it's darn close but being Unit wide the purhaser would have access to the Gila for sure. Physically and bow ready to hunt right now I might take a chance. It's also Either Sex and I'm not that picky. I originally wasn't planning a elk hunt west this year but I strongly feel like it's calling me lately so I'm browsing my options right now. A rifle or Muzzleloader hunt would give me more time to get ready and I haven't shot a bow since last year.

If you check out top rut for this unit, theres only a few tags. It looks like 2/10 people were successful last year. Sounds like a hit or miss hunt.

Well, Looks Like it was a miss for me, for better or for worse. It was a bow season tag anyway and I wasn't prepared to do a bow hunt this soon.
