NHL Playoffs!

My wife and I were watching every game of the play-offs until the Golden Knights got screwed by the refs and handed the game to the Sharks.

Was a major the right call.. probably not. But Pavelski has not played single game since still, and rules state a cross-check resulting in injury requires a major. It was not a ruthless check, but it was an obvious cross check . And i don't think you can say the refs "handed" the game. The knights were up 3-0... they allowed 4 goals during a power play that previously hadn't amounted to much the whole series including 0-4 that night leading up to that. The knights had full ability to still win that game, they failed on their penalty kill miserably. Then had an entire OT, but SJ got the goal.

Expecting a good game 7 tonight between the Av's and Sharks. I am hoping the Av's can come away with the win.

Me too! The coolest part of this playoffs as an Avs fan has been watching the young guys recognize their promise. Compher and Jost were both pieces that I have been waiting for to start producing. Win or lose they have done that, they will be much better next year.

I have to add I was always raised to hate the wings. Even as a kid born in the U.P. of michigan (A Yooper) it was better to be a north star fan than a wings fan.
Moved to colorado when I was 16, when the Avs came and the rivalry that developed with the wings was a win win for me.

I have a friend that now lives in New Mexico who is a diehard Wings fan. A number of years ago he had some tickets to a Wings vs Av's game in Denver but he couldn't make it. He gave me the tickets on the condition that I rooted for the Wings at the game.

The first thing that I did after sitting down in the arena is explain to the folks around me what I was going to do just to stay of of trouble with them. I had a great time at the game and didn't even have to buy a beer, the folks around me bought me all that I could drink. But then would get on me every now and then about rooting for the Wings so loud.

As a youngster my buddies and I drove from Houghton, MI (Keeweenaw Peninsula) to Minneapolis to watch a Northstars -Wings playoff game in 1992. We bought tickets AT THE GATE when we got there, talk about weak fans. Sergei Federov got the game winner in OT and we heard it hit the cross bar and got up to leave while the Northstar fans remained in their seats praying. Walking past them all in our 'Wings swag with our arms raised - it was glorious.

Don't forget there were also tickets to a sold out game involved

Mad props JimP for representing - next time don't explain! The Red Wings are icons. Here's a picture of the GOAT (of any sport) Gordie Howe answering fan mail while recovering in Harper Hospital in Detroit. Howe made the Red Wings what Ruth made the Yankees.

If you ever watched a Red Wings/Av's game back in the mid 90's you would understand why I explained to the others seated around me.

I didn't want to get thrown out onto the ice.

I don't think that there was or is a better rivalry than what the Wing/Av's had back then. You knew that it was going to be a blood bath with a number of fights every game. I learned not to watch the puck but the other players if you wanted to see the real action that was going on.

The Avs grew up a lot last year in the opening round with Nashville. I would have liked a better seeding this year but as you see, you just got to get into the playoffs, you don't have to be a top seed. My daughter married a Canadian and they live just north of Calgary. It was great to see the flames fold like origami. I would like to see the young guys on the Avs get one more game and get a chance to play the Blues. If it happens, I will be able to watch games and not have to stay up till midnight! GO AVS !

Absolutely lots of positives for the the AV's potential over the next few season. Some disappointment for the loss in last nights games as that was a winnable game. However as you mentioned Compher, Jost also other young players like Cale Maker have me excited about were the teams is headed. Also the goaltending position I think will be better next year with Varlomov's contract up and I would be surprised if he returns, meaning I think Grubauer will start next season as the #1 and we will see how he does.

Sakic has a ton of cap space to work with, even re-signing Rantanen. I am good with them re-upping Wilson, not sure about Brassard. If they land another solid forward plus the number 4 pick the depth looks pretty good. I can?t believe I am about to say that our defensive depth looks good, with some good prospects in the pipeline!

Not sure who to cheer for now. Hard to cheer for the Sharks and O?Reilly?s drama when he left the Avs makes it tough for me to get excited for either.
