Welcome. You've got some good whitetail hunting in your home state.
I have heard about the good deer hunting here....I've been looking for like a mentor or someone that could take me deer hunting until I feel comfortable on my own ( have a little disability issue)

Been living here over 15 yrs; for the best chance at a nicer buck and a more focused hunt; I'd suggest the following deer seasons in Iowa:

1. Early muzzleloader (residents only, Oct)
2. Archery - height of peak rut in Nov (may be able to use crossbow-pretty sure you csn with a Dr. note in the past need to doublecheck regs)
3. Late muzzleloader (can be cold as h*??, but less pressured bucks)

If you want just a doe (antlerless), there are some managed hunts that might be worth a look; as well as a late season hunt this yr in 4 counties in January where just about any weapon goes, including high power centerfire rifles. I'm contemplating that one to get one last hurrah in, but the closest spot is a 90 min drive for me and it could be nasty cold by then, so maybe not. [emoji38]

I do have a bow I'm just learning how to shoot it.. I think I myself would rather bow hunt then shot gun too many accidents for me. I wont even go hunting when its shotgun season...

My wife daughter just got a home out in country by springville they are always seeing deer turkey walking by there house are we allowed to shoot them providing it is season..Forst night we moved them we counted 15 deer next morning there we counted at least 25 turkey
